Thank you, Woody.

You know, in retrospect, I feel that after all the years spent doing this that I'm just now finding that place where I'm no longer fighting to union myself with the rest of the instruments that are meant to participate in the language. This happened only after realizing that you must allow the music to say what it needs to say... And that going against this grain only winds up making the rebellious one(s) behind the given instrument(s) look bad.

I am by no means there... A steady work in progress for sure... But through my concessions, it's getting better.

Don.

Hi Neph!

I listened and wished I could have been there to take in the "drive" Joint Chiefs push in any room! Quite a nice group you are privileged to work with on a regular basis. Very nice indeed - and, of course, you do what is necessary from a drummer's perspective. Very nice indeed (oh, I said that). Very Happy

My sentiments EXACTLY! Well done, and well said Don.

the band keeps getting better and better, Don. Nice work on all the pieces.

I noticed you're using a Mapex kit on this gig - would that be the snare you got from our mentor himself ? And if so, then am I correct in guessing that you bought the kit to match the snare ?

Either way, it looks and sounds great .

Peace, TED

Hi, Ted,

I purchased that kit about a month ago... All of it is new including the snare... Nevermind me... I wanna hear what you guys are doing. Anymore from your latest project?

Hi Don,

Well , thanks for asking about my little project over here. We are still in the confines of rehearsal because it has been difficult to schedule rehearsals to try and fit everyone's work and family schedules. So we haven't played any gigs yet because we need over 3 hours worth of music, which is a lot to get down, as you know. But we're getting there.

I've put up a page for the band on my site with a photo of five of the six members and a bunch of rehearsal versions of songs.

So check it out if you have time, and just remember it's a work in progress.

You look super relaxed in the Express yourself vid. I wish I could get that 16th note arm motion down. It still illudes me. What's the secret?

I'd have to say it's the Moeller technique, rarebit. I wasn't a conscious advocate of this until my later playing years, at which time I discovered that I had been using this method through most of my drumming experience.

For me, you can't go wrong with this technique when it comes to 16ths and pulse playing on the hi hat.... As for looking relaxed, simply relax.

Thanks for listening and commenting. cheers

D.
