That's an interesting blog.
I noticed a number of different companies showing walnut drums. So much of what is now was already there years ago in the DIY/Custom arena.
To see the retro stuff is interesting, too. The DIY/Custom arena has also been doing that for years now. It also shows what I believe to be true by my own observations - acoustic drums are maxing out. There's really nothing left to do with them. It will be all computerized graphics and cosmetics and hardware innovations now. Something like molecules is about the only place acoustic drums can go - different shell material and/or shapes in design. At some point someone come up with square drums, triangular drums, hexagonal drums, and manufacture heads to fit. They'll come up with totally computerized hardware to reproduce exact settings, especially will that be true with bass drum pedals with so many adjustment options.
The electronic tuner is pretty cool. I've been looking into tuners lately. Need to investigate that one.
At some point I wish a general public NAMM could take place. They do it for traveling home shows, boat and car shows, tool shows, gun shows, etc. I never understood why musical instruments don't do the same thing.
