2:20 am and I just got home from the Spectrum show.
Been there since 3:30 yesterday afternoon. Awesome!

I gotta say Billy was on fire! The band was ripping!
Sorry you didn't get to hear some of these songs at
your show, Ted... Rick, Garry and Dean wrote some
really cool tunes beside "Brick Chicken" by Jerry.

Sad thing is this show and the one in L.A. were both
streamed live on ShowGo.tv and no one really knew
about it... You could have watched them.

I'm tired, more later.

I did know about the streaming Don. Unfortunately, the technology still isn't there yet for good streaming. The band would play for about 30 to 45 seconds and then the picture would freeze . It would freeze for about 20 seconds and then would come back. I watched a little but it was too annoying so I had to shut it off. kudos to billy for trying to have it put out there though.

I know they have added If Animals Had Guns to the setlist , and I was told they played Open Country Joy, though I've yet to hear a clip of it. When you wake up I would appreciate it if you would put up the setlist for Yoshi's.

I guess you will be at Kuumbwa on thursday too. Please give my best to Billy and congratulate him on a successful tour ! Was it a full house at Yoshi 's ? I hope so !

Thanks ! TED

Both shows were sold out, Ted.

Yes, that tune by Gary and one each from Ric and Dean.
The one by Dean is called "2 numbers", I think. I can't remeber
what the name for Ric's song was but I recorded the show
so I'll check and let you know.

Billy said this has been an incredibly sucessful tour.

Pics to come... Stay tuned!

Oh yeah, almost forgot... The snare drum Billy's been using
with the gold plated hardware is a "Billy Gladstone."

Both those tunes were played at BB King's.

Nice pics. Bet you had a great time, Don.

Needless to say curiosity arises over the drum set. I thought I read something about a white set being used for the western half of the tour. What's with the mongrel set in the pics?

Awesome photo's, thanks for sharing!

I guess the kit I saw Boomer play got shipped back to Europe.
It makes sense, the east coast is closer to Europe and rental equipment was used for the West Coast.

I can't believe Yamaha didn't hook Boomer up with a kit, there right in Buena Park, CA.
About a 5 hour drive to San Fran, but it kind of shows their lack of interest in one of their top endorsers.
Instead he has to use a mismatched rental kit....oh well, I am sure he still sounded great on it anyway.

That is the same snare he had when I saw him, he must have brought his own snare and cymbals with him.

I just went to the Yamaha site and took a look at a PDF brochure on PHX drums. I was rather shocked to see that Billy is not on the list of "Artists" displayed. Given some of the names listed, not including Billy is odd, indeed.

Rental drums for a man who influenced drumming perhaps more than any other person in the latter half of the 20th century. That is just plain offensive. It really is.

It looks like the White kit was used for the show in LA at the Mint on Sat. Jan 26th.
I guess nobody wanted to drive the drums to the bay area in Oakland...
and a dodgy mismatched rental kit was used instead.

Okay, as I posted earlier:

Billy has a Phoenix kit that he owns in Europe
and one also in the U.S. that as you know he used
(and stores) on the east coast for this tour.

He used his white kit in L.A. But I also thought that
kit would be shipped up to the bay area as has been
the norm in the past. For whatever reason, that didn't
happen this time. The snare drum is a Billy Gladstone
that Billy brought up as well as all his own cymbals.

Soooo, What you see here in natural maple belongs to
the house and what you see in black was rented.

And get this... Billy will use a Craviotto kit tomorrow in
Santa Cruz... Stay tuned for more pics.
