If greatness can be defined by carving out an individual voice, certainly Virgil has done that.

Not being a "schooled" musician and just listening to him over the years, is he doing anything different in these clips than what he normally does? I didn't notice anything by sound.

I wonder if the way he breaks up time is part of his character/personality. He must be a pretty intelligent person and deep thinker.

Well, I do hear some things that are different... not much
but it's there. To me. this is just another level of Virgil.
whatever it is he does, it seems he did it better here in this
clip. I can honestly say that no one does the style he does
as well as HE does it IMO.

I'm amazed nearly every time I watch and/or hear him.
