I don't know if Roy Burns has been discussed much on this forum. I always had great respect for Roy Burns as a columnist in Modern Drummer, but it wasn't until later in life I actually heard Roy Burns play. I was astonished. There's hardly anything on youtube that is worthy of this man's abilities and career, but this is - Timetable. Maybe you have already heard it. I had not till a few minutes ago. Didn't know it existed. It's just audio, but when people talk about Buddy Rich and all the greats, they need to talk about Roy Burns, too. He absolutely deserves it. He is so precise and clean, and has speed equal to anyone in their prime, especially with his control of it. Just a phenomenal drum solo. It may old school compared to stuff done today, but it rocks, man.

That's great thanks for sharing. I took the gist of what i heard here to my jazz gig last night. During one solo I tried to emulate those even snare drum rolls with strategic rim shots.
