When I grow up I want to be able to play drums like this.

Chris is an absolute animal!  And he rips those
drums up with the sweetest smile on his face.
One thing I notice about him is his incredible
wrist speed.  When he does really fast fills, his
arms don't move that much.  Most of his power
comes from the wrists.

Incredible drummer.  And he's not out there
just playing to sequences.  Chris does it in
real time with real people.  Awesome!

Here's another one called: "Hebrews 11:1."

Notice the cute little grin he does at the end
of this....  Gotta love im!

I read a lot about speed being developed by exercises and all. Many drummers could practice every exercise known to man, every day till they die and never attain speed like that, especially with that kind of control. That is genetics. That's a talent beyond the norm. Not many have it. And Chris plays like it is effortless. Remarkable.

A large part in the explosive speed factor is fast twitch muscle fibers.
Look at someone like Simon Phillips as opposed to Chris Coleman. Or
Dave Weckl and Virgil Donati. The ability of speed to move from one
drum to the other coupled with hand or wrist stroke speed in striking
the drum. Much of this isn't going to happen without fast twitch muscle
fibers. So in essence, yes, genetics play a large role and all the exercises
and practice in the world won't change that to the degree you see here
with Chris.

Which is not to say we cannot increase the abilities of our own fast or slow twitch muscles, but Chris seems to have a collection of Type IIa and b which he has out of the gate, only made stronger by daily use. It's jaw dropping.

Chris is such a good all-round player, too, the speed is not a deterrent to his musicality.

Man, I would love to see him, Bruner Jr, and Gergo Borlai on the same stage.

I absolutely love what Gergo Borlai offers from behind the drum kit. Young Ron Bruner
is a bit of a loose cannon in my opinion. But when he matures a bit, Lawd help us!  Cool

When they're really something like
Dennis and this inspired boy, they
don't need much to sound bigger
than Moffet's kit.
