This is for sale now on Ebay, it actually has 85 watchers, for that price I doubt any of them are really serious.
Where would you even put a kit like this? Just a totally impractical situation, DW gets stuck with all this stuff
that must cost them a fortune to make, Terry really get's the royal treatment from DW.

Ha!  Is he still tryin to sell this?  I remember this from
a few years back.  Almost 40 G's for a set of drums?!!

You actually get a lot of equipment for the money but
simply having the bragging rights of owning a T.B. set
of drums doesn't justify that kind of money in my opinion.

Besides, I'm still trying to figure out how to play a 5 pc.
set of drums.

I guess someone at some point will buy them!

I had the chance to buy The kit Billy used on the "Warning"
and "Power play" (A little more than $2000.00, shells only)
and didn't do it....  I'm kicking myself for that one!!!!

That UK tour must have been something.

Great band.

Now, Billy's kit, up top (of this site): THAT
ONE interests me.

Boomer's kit in 2002 was a Yamaha Oak Custom kit, the finish was called York Honey Amber Oak.

Does that kick ass or what?!

I do not prefer wood but if it
is wood, that look is perfection!

The color of this kit is among the very few
kits that didn't get lost in all the stuff on
stage. I find that white, black and sparkle
kits seem to standout the best among the
entourage of equipment on stage. Again,
there are a few other solid colors and wood
grains (like this kit) that are the exception
to the rule of those colors that tend to
get lost in the stage mix of gear.

Its amazing what "branding" does when associated with the artists making them desirable. When I read Don's quote about the 5 piece kit, I fell on the floor laughing. So true. Yet some music requires more "sound" and "sustain..."; which is probably why these kits get bigger with more sound surfaces.

Ultimately, its the music that dictates the instruments to play it. No disrespect to T.B. or B.C., but I'd never spend nearly $40K for a drum kit unless I was a collector (which I'm not) or it was a fully equipped Noble & Cooley set manufactured to my specs - and the cymbals were exactly as they ought to be. I'd have to still be touring to justify that cost - and if I were, I'd have an endorsement rather than pay the full retail price.

Looking at pictures like that make we
want to play the small kit and finding
ways to work with time and what is
made available to you.  There are so
many examples of players that paint
a kaleidoscope of color without all
the bells and whistles.

Incidentally, Terry is a monster player.

I am just saying.

There's the cake and then there's the icing, Pete.
The cake is having what you need to say what needs
to be said. It's really cool to listen to those who can
add those extra things they WANT to say with what
little is available to them to speak through. That's the
icing... having more resources to speak through is also
the icing when it's done correctly.
