Thought this was thought provoking. Nothing really new but just simple yet very practical and attainable steps towards improving our overall performance. As you will see, these are series that Chick did that I feel are jewels. And it's FREE!!!! alien  alien  alien  alien  alien  bounce

I was not aware that Dave plays double bass. He sounds fantastic as usual! Thank you for that video. I really enjoyed it.

Rac,

It's not really a double bass as one would normally think.
but more of an auxiliary bass drum. The bass drum to the
right is an 18" and has a double pedal set up on it with
one beater that is played with the right foot on the slave
pedal when not playing the 22" bass drum on the left, which
also has a double pedal but with the normal two beaters.

I used to use this bass drum configuration myself but
it wasn't very practical for me because the footprint
was so big.  Drums were spread out all over the place.
But it was really fun to play.

Here's a better look at the concept:

Wow! That is way too cool. Now that you've explained it to me with a visual I recall; is that what Damien used in that video I presented on my post on him? It sure looked like it. I was wondering why the distance but now I know. That spread of bass drums can cause a hernia right up the old mittens! LOL!!! joke

Thanks for the information.

Thanks for the info here.

Yes, that's essentially what Damien has
only he uses just one beater per drum.

Yes Please post them all
he is nothing like the Whiplash Teacher

Infact I would ask Tama Drums and  Chicks Piano deal
for a Double clinic

Ray Parker Jr,
did one in Hawai
on YouTube  free
with Land Richards - Drums
and Freddie  Washington - Bass
one question asked is so good
how do you keep in the groove.
Its towards  the end of 60mins

Ray starts a Guitar Lick
Freddie then  fits a Bass  to it
Then  Land  brings in  the Drums

Ray then shows what happens
if you play out of the groove
He also said there are Great Musicians
who can play Great Guitar
but put them in a band
they can not connect to the groove.

So He like Chick   or Bill tells why you  need work as a Team.

We Need Chick & Bill on CNN HD, CBS HD morning and FoxNewsHD

On apprenticing: In theory, it is
a great concept but I have to
tell you that while there are a
LOT of great players: there are
very few good teachers and add
to that the insecurity that exists
amongst players when it comes
to sharing their ideas, approaches
and techniques - it is a lot easier
said than done. If you can find
such a relationship, that is great.
Good luck in finding such.

Never saw it in that perspective nor realized how that may be an issue with some of these players. I don't know exactly why that is so but if one is a teacher at heart it would seem a pleasure in sharing experiences and concepts to eager minds. Just my thoughts on that.

Thank you,
Rac
