That's the name of our new original tune that we recorded a few weeks ago.

Here is the link to it: http://metrocast.net/~rhythm/Soldier%20Son%2012-01-08.mp3

This was recorded with the DW drums the studio provided. I used my cymbals and snare drum.

Turn it up and let me know what you guys think about it.

This is a first mix, so there is plenty of room for adjustment. There is also an intro that hasn't been added, yet, that has a middle eastern flavor to it, like the ending.

Pertinent and solid tune. Didn't listen with a great stereo, but the production quality seems very good and you have clean tracks to work with . . . some nice flams and crashes. And the lyrics bring to light what we all take for granted: what about the children of soldiers and how they've been affected by their parents' injuries?

Thanks, Keith.
There's a couple of spots that are rough on the drums @ 44 seconds from the end and 33 seconds from the end that could be cleaned up in the studio.
I tried to keep it as simple as I could and still retain the structural integrity of the song.
I suppose if we had deep pockets and more time it could come off alot more polished.
I did three different takes of this song and settled for this one that is more basic.
Still, not too bad for a good demo of what the band sounds like.
We did another song that I will post when I get a mix of it.
There are always things that you would have done differently if you were given more time, but time is of the essence when you're paying $75.00 an hour for the studio.
I think it is a good representation of what we sound like.

In this second mix, something might be done to put the lead vocal more "in the room" with the rest of the band for about the first third of the tune . . . it did get better with the addition of reverb or something . . . perhaps something was added to the overall instrumentation because it may have been dulled a tad and that's why the lead vocal sticks out in the second mix . . . I dunno, I could be hallucinating.

Yeah, I've had other people say that, Keith, about the vocals being more up front.

As far as the second mix, you must be tripping, man. What are you doing..... Windowpayne or blotter???
Just kidding.....

I don't know, I wasn't in the control room or the studio when they did the mixing, so, I don't know what kind of things they did.

Either way, I noticed they fixed those issues I had in a couple of spots with the drums.
Second mix does sound better, to me.

Hi Woody,
I really enjoyed listening to that track! Nice tune and nice and solid playing by yourselve. That was just what the tune asked for and needed in my oppinion!
The mix sounds a little rough yet I think. I am sure it will be more mastering done.

Keep grooving
Peace
