1Vic Firth's Isolation Headphones... Empty Vic Firth's Isolation Headphones... Wed Dec 10, 2008 4:48 pm

Just the other day, I used a brand new VF Isolation headphones my church recently purchased and was very good. As it's purpose, it isolates well allowing for the right amount of drums to be heard while playing live. However, I've owned a pair my self for the past 3 years. And to my surprise I compared it to the newer one purchased by the church and mine seem to have gone bad. It was not broken or misused to my knowledge, but it seemed that it's allowing more of the live drums to seep in and less isolation needed.

Would anyone know what may be the issue or problem with mine? Remember, mine was hardly used yet still allowed too much drum and less isolation of unwanted soud.... Shocked thanks

Racman,
I have a pair myself, and I have never had that problem.
Did the foam on the headphones come off or wear down?
That is the only way I can see that you would start to hear too much drums.
You should take them to your local music store, maybe they can help.

If you have enough volume in the headset, the drums should not be drowning the
sound out. Maybe you need a new pair.

Woody

I had a pair of those in the studio and I thought they worked very well.
I didn't have any problems with them.

That might be the issue in regards to the foam being worn. But it does'nt seem that way. I'll look into that further. Thanks Drumman.

Okay Woody, it may well be a possible defect on my phones. I also considered the firmness when worn. It could be the headband being a tad too stretched. Although I tried pressing the ear foams closer to my ears while playing and to no avail. This is begining to be strange.

As far as a local music store helping, they don't cary these so they suggested contacting Vic Firth in person (just joking lol)....But seriously, I just would have to contact the manufacturer and see what may be the problem and maybe....just maybe replaced with a new pair. I'll let you know what happens from there.

Thanks all for your input. If anyone may have a remedy for this, that would be taken into consideration.

aloha and Merry Christmas!
