I just learned Ringo celebrated his 69th a couple weeks ago en route to researching the song Ticket to Ride which has an awesome drum part, apparently suggested by Paul.

Anyway, here's a really cool, recent femnist blog:

Couple songs I would have listed as great drumming are In My Life and She Said She Said.

Now here's a really cool 2001 conversation about Paul as drummer:

They talk a lot about Ticket To Ride. What struck me when I heard the song yesterday while turning my son on to the Beatles was how the drum part changed halfway through . . .

How the drums fills progress in Ticket To Ride is so full of wit! And I believe Ringo is a fan of Bilham, at least I recall him mentioning Billy in an interview . . .

It's an old memory, Spanky, of a Ringo interview where he mentions Billy as example of advanced drumming he's a fan of or something to that effect. I can't find it online very quickly . . .

I also like the way Ringo has said drumming is his madness . . . meaning it's like an addiction, albeit a healthy one . . .

And Ringo is left handed, but has always played right handed, making him one of the first drummers to play like that.

And the lowly tambourine played on beat accentuates the funk on Ticket . . . probably Paul's genius again . . .

I remember this statement.

In 2008, he issued a strange statement in a video on his website: "I'm warning you with peace and love, I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing. Anyway, peace and love, peace and love." Not a great way to show appreciation for fans. (thanks, Bertrand - Paris, France)
