Teo Macero, 82, Record Producer, Dies

Another great producer has left us.

Quite the biography.

An era dies and even today,
he is not known for what he
actually did for Miles.

The only other person in the
biz like him, is George Martin,
another unsung hero.

RIP, Teo.

I dunno, Pete, George Martin is a household name, but Teo is definitely unsung . . . but he's got lots of time on his side . . . I'd like to hear the releases of Miles' unedited music and learn exactly what Teo did to create that art . . . a nice essay on the subject:

It's sort of like The Beatles Let It Be Naked record where all of Phil Spector's magic is gone, except Teo also acted as a musical editor, creating new sound collages as opposed to just changes in sound quality/texture.

Teo Macero was one of the first to use the tools of a studio as a artistic tool. Before him a studio was a place to record music, he used it as a part of the creative process which let to a new understanding of producing music.

He will be missed but not forgotten. RIP.
