Steve Gadd and friends featuring Joey DeFrancesco, Ronnie Cuber, Paul Bollenback will be performing at Yoshi's in S.F. and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center. Nov. 13-15 at Yoshi's and I'm not sure what the dates are for the Kuumbwa.

I have never seen Steve perform live... I'm really gonna try and not miss this.

I hope you get the chance, Don.
I can't count the times I have seen
and every time, I left inspired to be
everything a drummer should be.

Let us know!

Regards,

Well, I just found out that I won't be able to catch them at Yoshi's. I'll be performing in Nevada the 12th through the 15th. But I could catch them at the Kuumbwa on the 16th if I'm not too wiped out.

In the last 50 years there have only been four of these greats that have totally changed the face and outlook concerning drumming... Buddy Rich, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham and Steve Gadd to date has been the last. There has been NO ONE else to date that has come along to set a different standard in the technical and musical approach to drumming that have been followed in the virtual absolute as these last four have done.

True Pioneers!

Shouldn't Steve be sitting lower?! Wink

Don.

Man, Steve burn SO easily! Joey's the bomb! Sure would like to see him get that weight off though.
It's only a matter of time before that catches up to him. He's actually pretty young too if I can remember
properly.

I definitely want to catch this show.

Hahaha... Hey, Ted,

With you, you know I gotta get in my friendly digs when I can. The truth is times are tough. Our subsidized Cobra health insurance plan is about to expire and Audrey and I are working hard to hold something together in that regard. Anyone fighting against health care reform obviously has no problem with their health care plan or obviously is not without health insurance.

It's scary, I gotta tell you... As you know In 2006 Audrey contracted bacterial meningitis and almost died. Two months ago she had to have surgery.
Though it wasn't serious, It quickly ran into an outrageous, astronomical amount of money. She was in the hospital for 6 days with the meningitis and the total bill was well over $100,000.

I dearly love this country, but the heath care system here is REALLY whacked! Don't let anyone fool you into believing it's not. Am I pushing for President Obama's Health care plan? No, as I really don't know enough about it. What I do know, however is he IS trying to do SOMETHING and something DESPERATELY needs to be done.

Hey, where did Steve get that big fluffy Ted E. Bear?! santa

D.

Don, you’re right about Joey DeFrancesco’s age. He is only 38 years old and that big. What happened to him? Nevertheless an astonishing natural talent as described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joey_DeFrancesco

I had a chance to see John Mclaughlin’s trio Free Spirits back in 1994. A memorable event. Here’s a clip with this trio or it’s actually a drum solo by the always amazing Dennis Chambers. John McLaughlin is enjoying himself here and smiling a lot.

Kind regards,

The guy likes his grub. man that Steve gadd clip is sweet. Haden't heard Ronnie Cuber for ages. I like the tuning of Steve's drums. kind of more deep pitched including the snare. they sing. His bass drum work during the accompaniment is really cool, the guy is happening! love those latin figures he plays with the bell. Is that the mozambique thing Pete?
