I believe Boomer worked in cooperation with Tama Drums to invent the Gong Drum and Octobans in the late 70's.
If someone could set the record straight, it has never been fully established how these Tama innovations came about
and who deserves the credit for the invention.

(1974) check out the early gong bass drum boomer was using, years before his association with Tama.

Yes love the Deeper Tama Gong Drum   of 1978.
and   that  1974 gong drum was modified with the Fibes kit  , I think.

The Gong drum came from me at the recommendation of Dan Hinger and TAMA helped me make it a reality. Octabans had been around as "BooBams": tubular drums set up in a diatonic or chromatic scale way back in the days.

Hi, Boomer.

Yes. I am alive.

I loved this addition and especially on
Total Eclipse - got the feeling to use it
and so tried to emulate it with large
floor toms and tuning but you are the
king of it and its inspiration.

Hope you are well. Have you come into
Chicago to see the doc recently? We
will have to catch up.

Arctic temps recently (-18F to -22F)

Hi Pete: It has been a while since we were last in communication. Its great to read words from you as I was aware that you were going through a very, very tough patch so I am hopeful that these problems are behind you for the most part if not in total.
I was in Chicago for the 2018 Drum Fantasy Camp and I believe that I played "Space" with the Crosswinds Project last year as well. Sorry that we couldn't connect then.
I believe that my agent has me scheduled to play the City Winery in the fall. Check the billcobham.com web site for the correct information.
All the best,

Boomer

Thanks, Boomer.

I will check the site for the
info on the Winery. Space is
accessible to me. Not sure
of the Winery but I will find
out and let you know.

All of my efforts have been
on family related and work.
Intensive on both.

Healthwise, no change really
though I am understanding
my body and what is helping
to trigger these pain episodes
which are nervous system re-
lated. Sugars and nightshade
vegetables seem to be at the
root of them.

Anyway, it is great seeing you.
I will try and come by more
as things settle down a little.
A LOT has happened that has
pulled me away but it is NOT
health related, at least, not
MY health, as before.

I hope you and yours are well.

Regards,

I am spending much more time in Central America teaching and living close to my family. It's great to spend time reviewing my family history here in Panama. It supports the musical direction that I have taken as been best and most comfortable for me.
If we play the City Winery then I don't believe that we will perform at Space this year. That said, if you can make the City Winery gig let me know and I will place you on my guest list.
Until then, all the best to you and yours................

Boomer - That sounds just great!
I am not sure if this for you or not
but I had my DNA done along with
my wife and adopted children and
this so we can see what is inside
us and I was quite surprised for
myself. It was a great thing for us
because it helped us see each other
in a new light and this brought us
closer together. We NEEDED to do
this for the sake of my daughter.
Not that it solved anything but it
opened a necessary door.

Thank you for your kind offer. I
will let you know if I can somehow
get down there. I would love to be
with you, of course.

Regards,
