One big problem
on the Billy Cobham Forum.
One poster did a angry thread about Hackers
I contacted him - but he left it up.

Hackers love threads about them
it becomes a Trophy and another Challenge.
The Problem with these Punks
is they are a gang Network
so they find a High Ranking member of their group
to Hack - so no one can post.

This latest one or group that did Bill's Forum
are real bad news.

I asked Pete if I could do this thread
because it is a private Forum
we can talk about Hackers.

I think we need to let Bill know
that when his Forum is back - No posts about Hackers.
Because then they know they have Won.

These are my views
please lets have all of yours.
It is worth a Debate - since the last Hacker/s
took the best forum we all love down for months etc.

I do agree with you about this, Colin.

The best way to deal with them is to
not acknowledge their doings, at all.

They crave the attention.

I'd like to know what makes this a private forum ? Is it just because a few of us know about it at the moment? Or are there more safeguards in place than at Billy's forum ?

I've been very curious as to why Billy's site has been attacked so often and so savagely. I know of no other artist site on the net that has experienced this. Does anyone know of any others ?

Remember when we were getting all the porn and drug spam a while back ? I clicked on a few of them to see what the links went to and one of the similarities with them is that they all came from eastern bloc countries. I mentioned this to Bill in a private e-mail and he told me "you don't know just how close you are" as I was trying to figure out where the hacks were coming from.. I know this is beginning to sound like a spy novel, but maybe this person pissed off the people who are responsible for the hack attacks.

I don't know what server provider Bill uses for his site, but obviously he needs to find one with better firewalls and security in place. That would probably entail costing Bill more money from his pocket, and I don't know whether or not he thinks it's worth the cost versus whatever enjoyment he gets from interacting with us.
I hope he decides to keep it. Peace, TED

There is no site that is hack-proof.

This site is only as private as no one
knows about it. Those that do are the
ones, who are 'trusted'.

If and when Billy's site comes back up,
we will be here or somewhere, as a
fall-back.

I have no knowledge of Billy's affiliations
but reason that they (the attacks) are
highly directed and it is true that the
'smoke' points to the east.

Again, however, I agree that it is the
acknowledgment that they seek and
that is what we cannot give.

No internet site is truly "private" unless set up on servers under a VPN protocol (virtual private network). I do not believe this site will be private long simply because if it maintains meta tags, then search engines will pulse it eventually and it'll show up on Google, etc. Or maybe even word of mouth will promote its' existence, no matter how "trusted" any of us old timers perceived to be.

Nevertheless, I specifically remember mentioning in my email to contacts that Pete asked I send out, that it's best not to give attention to the damage that was done back then (I agree with you Colin)... and then all of a sudden I see this thread from you.

Honestly, IMO, I see no point in debating the subject since my hope is that Boomer finds the time among his priorities to revamp his official site ... though I'm glad he approves of this one, as I also commend Pete for taking the time out of his busy schedule to maintain it.

Either way, it's great to be sharing with you Guys again.

Happy New Year!

From what I can tell, right now, no
matter what happens, I will always
be able to put up another Forum. So,
I am encouraged.

All systems go! cheers

They've only won when they've succeeded in keeping us from continuing with our plans, Colin. But I do agree that the satisfaction they get from seeing and hearing our dissatisfaction because of their actions should not be given to them.
