I just got home from the show a short while ago and I'm still bouncing ! Paul McCartney was phenomenal tonite. My fourth time seeing him live and I think he sounded the best I've ever heard him. And the band is stellar.

He's only doing 8 shows on this tour - tonite was the first with another tomorrow also at the Stadium. I would honestly consider going again, even though it will be the same show, it was that good. If you're still considering whether to go or not - do yourself a bif favor and go . You won't be disappointed . Here's the set list. They played 2 1/2 hours with no intermission.

You know, I see why many of these concerts cost so much,
with all the stage, media, fire and other production props
that's added...

Miss me with all that. Just come out there and perform
your ass off, okay?!

Yeah, the fireworks were thunderous .. there was a lot more going on than can be seen in that video which is a great shot of the band full-on.

this is a video of the same song similar to the view I had which was on the first base side of Yankee stadium. The video screens were ultra-clear and there were 3 of them, 2 huge ones and a small one. But there was a lot of other fireworks coming from behind and the right side of the stage going off above the stage. check it out.

There are a lot of vids already on youtube. If you want to see for yourself how great they sounded, search for yourself.

Here is a photo I took before the show started so you can see the speaker arrays and the vid screens. They were about 100' high ! the concert started about 8:35 pm which was about dusk.

You can't go small when you're trying to reach 50,000 people ! I don't go to stadium shows either. In fact, this was my first arena larger than 20,000 . Although I did go to the Pocono Music Festival back in 72 which was like Woodstock 250,000 freaks in the mud ! LOL

BUT this is Paul McCartney we're talking here ! I'm sure he doesn't have the same significance to you that he does to me, but that's okay. I would love to see him in a small place. So would 1,000,000 other people . Ain't gonna happen.

Live music is my drug of choice . I absolutely ingest live music ! I need it to live !

the past two nights will keep me going until RTF ! LOL

Peace,

A consummate showman. You must have had a blast, Ted. I see he's still using Abe on the drums.

Woody, you know anything about Abe's father?

Nice vice you have there, Ted. Notable from last night is the first ever live performance of The Night Before.

Last week I happened to have this song in my head for a few days after listening to the BBC version. I think Ringo has said the BBC stuff really proves what a great band they were.

Abe's father is a well renowned session bass player.
Probably the reason his son got the gig.
Another Berklee alumni.

Well, to my knowledge at least he doesn't lip sync... Kudos there, Paul.

"Man on the run", that tune represents a wonderful time for me. Life was
simply wonderfully simple... 1974, the year I first heard this song and
graduated high school. What a time.... Thanks, Paul.

Uh, it's Band on the Run Don. And no he doesn't lip sync at his live concerts.

And to Woody, Abe got the gig because of his playing, his singing [the whole band sings backup], and his personality. But he might have gotten the audition because of his dad . I did see his father play a couple times live with Lee Ritenour and Friendship !

My friend told me Billy Joel played with Paul on Sat. night's show on I saw her Standing There. He also did some different songs like Magical Mystery Tour.

Ted, honest truth... I was looking up the term "Man on the run" for a totally
unrelated subject just before I posted that. The phrase was in my head and
found it's way into the thread.... It was a total brain fart! Thanks for pointing
it out to me. Embarassed

Wow!! Incredible stage presence! Would you think all that kabang kind of distracts (takes) from the music? But over all it looked like an exciting concert. Thanks Ted.
