Hey guys,
I don't know if you know this, but Clifford Coulter is
very ill. He's been living in Thailand for the last few
years and has just recently had a heart attack and
kidney failure. He is in a Thailand hospital as I write
this. Just in case you don't know, Clifford is a keyboard
player who worked with the likes of Bill Withers, John Lee
Hooker, Ron Wynn and a host of other big names. He had
settled in the Bay Area for a good while where he divided his
time playing and traveling between the States, Thailand and
Brazil. Again, he moved to Thailand a few years ago and was
making his living playing music there until his unfortunate illness.
There was a benefit held for him at the Fairmont Hotel right here
in San Jose. It was a wonderful turnout of fans and musicians
alike. I have had the good fortune of working with Clifford and was
honored to be invited to sit in and be a small part of the performing
aspect of the benefit. The program was recorded and streamed,
though I don't know on what broadcast. There are a bunch of youtube
clips highlighting the event. Here is one in particular that I performed on.
"Love and happiness", with Grammy award winner, Tony Lindsey (Carlos
Santana's lead vocalist) and Tom Politzer (Tower of Power) on Sax. That's
Don Caruth on guitar who is the leader of my band, The Joint Chiefs.
