Wonderful!

A beautiful blend of groove and chops. I found myself
Not only enjoying what HE did but the music as a whole.

Jst the way it's supposed to be!

Thanks, D.L.

Saw him with Steps Ahead back in 2007 when he filled in for Steve Smith.. Very nice and simple guy, asked how did he sound :-) He really doesn't have to ask this question! His sound was terrific!

Over the many years: heard and heard
about his great subbing in the NYC area.
Clearly fluid and sensitive and a very
efficient player.

drumman

Great player, very cool guy..saw him many times with Spyro Gyra, very underrated player.

I think he made a mistake leaving Spyro Gyra though, that gave him a lot of exposure.
They have had a couple drummers since him and none of them were anywhere near as interesting as Joel was.

It's funny, I read a interview Joel did in the 90's and he expressed how happy he was to land the Spyro gig and he
went on to tell a story about how he met Steve Gadd in an airport once and how he was so grateful he had a regular gig
and didn't have to do the kind of things Steve did to survive.

Now it seems he has changed his mind and went the other way, only time will tell if Joel makes it back to the spotlight again.
