I stumbled on this the other day:
http://www.jazzhouse.org/

Some very interesting stuff here from the experts/critics . . . I was researching Duffy Jackson and found the following gem of an interview:
http://www.jazzhouse.org/gone/lastpost2.php3?edit=1067969252

Duffy's account of sitting-in with Duke Ellington at age 14 is wonderful . . . and the following quote embodies the spirit I've witnessed in his playing more than a few times:
My destiny and dedication is to really put the grin back on the groove and help people to feel a certain love for the American art form of jazz and its history.

He sat in with the 5 piece jazz band I was playing with at the Travelers hotel in Miami, Florida in the late 1970's.
I remember he was a very hard player and I was afraid he would break my drums. pale

He was always an aggressive
player. It's true.

He was a huge influence on me,
as a youth, alongside Buddy, as
it concerned big-band.

I must say that, when I heard
Sonny Payne, I changed a lot, as
it concerns what I loved most,
in supporting that kind of music.

Regards,
