Norman sadly passed away this month
was not even on our News. (It should have been)
To me Norman was one of a kind
and picking Henry Garner as the Drummer for Rose Royce
was bang on right.

He helped Marvin Gaye
to become a Producer
and worked hard in the 1970's
with some Great bands.
He set up his own record label Whitfield Records
even taking Rose Royce from Warner to Epic in 1982.

As music changed in the 80's Norman left it all.

Norman is a Legend.
And will be missed.

Norman in the 1970's.

A staggering list of songs to his credit . . . and as poignant as it gets in melody and lyrics. Not bubble gum by a long shot. Several masterpieces. Papa Was a Rollin' Stone would be my favorite.

Wonder if guitarist, Mark Whitfield, is related . . .
