Talk about six degrees of separation, Floyd is connected!!! And he's a fine painter, as well:
Floyd was leading a fusion of the human race (like Uhura!) well before he was "the black guy" in Three Dog Night. With The Calgary Shades in Canada including Tommy Chong on guitar, the group was a melting pot, hence shades.

I guess he must be Rae Dawn Chong's uncle. He played with Bobby Taylor (who discovered the Jackson 5; Diana Ross was the hype who introduced them to them world):
