If anybody has seen Bill Bruford's 2 DVD video anthology covering
his career with his Jazz group Earthworks, it is about time a
collection of Billy's solo work is make available.

The video footage is out there, it is time to release it in a complete
package. I know this requires a lot of work, and getting permission
from the various owners of the footage, must take a lot of time.
But, it would be worth it, the stuff has been around in the bootleg
market for years, it is time to release it the right way.

Maybe, this can happen in the near future!

IMHO Drumman, that's not likely to happen. Way too expensive and time-consuming to do. My guess would be that Boomer would rather spend his money releasing new projects.

Case in point: there are only 5 recorded video performances of the MO 1. Their road manager has been trying for years to put those pieces together in a DVD with no success. Obtaining the rights to the material is an arduous task, and then you must deal with paying the performers. - All the performers- If one objects, for whatever reason, it kills the project.

Would love to see it, but I doubt it. Peace, TED

It is ashame that all that bull has to get in the way of great
music video footage being released.
I am glad there is a strong bootleg market out there, so this
footage can be seen.

There really is no reason for it, other than lack of someone
driving the project.
If someone wants to make this happen, they will.
Both on the Mahavishnu & Cobham solo footage, as well
as JID or any other footage that exists.

This is sort of the downfall of no man being an island, especially when it comes to music. Like Ted said, if one member objects, it kills the whole project. There is a lot of great music out there that we will never know of because of greed or somebody feeling that they are not getting their fair share.

You're right drumman, it's a shame that all this stuff gets in the mix to gunk up the process of what could be a very positive endeavor for everyone, creators and recipiants alike.

Truly, the love of money is the root of evil.

Don.
