Candy Dulfer Porno Jazz

I am amazed at Porno Jazz like Candy Dulfer, have you ever seen her promo photos?
I guess this stuff is geared toward soccer moms and horny men?
I think this more qualifies to be called muzak for shopping centers and dentist's offices.

I don't mind the chick, but it's the saxophone which should be abolished. It's basically an overgrown kazoo. But if you have to play it, you shouldn't be running around with it in yer mouth. Might trip and hurt yer throat. I don't even think it's sanitary. Should give it an annual chemical dip.

Candy can play! She's done some cool stuff with Prince along with a couple of her own cd's. I haven't the slightest idea as to what drumman is talking about concerning porn...

The clip Pete posted was definately blue eyed funk, but it was fun.

Yes she was, and still is, pretty hot ! I saw her with Prince on the Lovesexy Tour in 1988 and Sheila was smokin !

Also saw her with Ringo a couple of years ago, and she is still great ! And she won on the TV reality show Gone Country this year ! Go Sheila !

Well, yeah.... The stuff that Sheila was doing with Prince went with that territory. But what's this about Candy? I was watching Mariah Carey in concert on Palladia the other day, walking around on stage in lingerie. And as ridiculous as I think that sort of thing is with someone of her singing talent......,,,, she looked pretty good!! Hahahahaha!

What I mean by "Porno" is the way she dresses and the photos he takes.
This is not my cup of tea, if you can buy that, then to each his own.
This music is watered down wimpy stuff, I just can't take it serious.

For me, Candy hasn't done enough in any set of her material for me to want to buy a whole cd of hers... But she has done some tunes that I like and enjoy listening to.

What you decide to listen to is your choice and your right. I personally am a music head, not a fusion head. I'm not going to miss out on some potentially good music just because it's not jazz or fusion.

As to the pics of her you describe as "porno", I haven's seen those.

The lady can play, no doubt. Understand that Candy has been around for a number of years now. She has been a hit on the smooth jazz scene whether it be your or my thing or not. She's played and continues to play with some of the best of the best. At the very least she has made a mark strong enough to have been brought up and get her name mentioned here in proverbial ink.

Any one of us should be so blessed enough to play "watered down, wimpy stuff" to the degree that we have the same foritune.

I think not, my point was that the music in not very good.
Whether she can "play" or not was not the issue.

The term "Fusion Head" refers to a narrow minded person that just likes to hear

i'd have her in my band any day of the week. It's good for business.
I don't really go out of my way for this kind of stuff i guess i am sort of a fusion head in a way that i prefer a certain level of technical prowess to keep my interest. But this kind of good time music has it's place by all means. Why not enjoy some funk with a hot babe i have no problem there! I think she is musically maybe a female version of kenny G. But I don't find kenny g attractive musically or otherwise.

i still don't see the fuss over Prince but that's cool he's doing his thing and successful and that is good. I heard him on jay leno last night. I think the drumgrooves are overblown. I don't see the finess in playing that way. It is forced funk to me. It's just how it makes me feel. I don't find prince's songs catchy. And i don't need to overthink it. I won't be buying his music anytime but that doesn't mean i don't like the fact that he has a good career. He's like a role model for some people i think that's great. I can connect with the fact that he's a success.

Candy Dulfer is the kind of music you hear at a street festival in my town. funk and blues based goodtime music. if it's a little pedestrian to my ears that's my problem. It has a good beat. I'm happy she's out there for people to enjoy. I'll worry about my own career and not feel slighted when people do their thing.

I feel like some kind of spiritual guru sometimes.

Nothing could be further from the truth. You
will find everyone will respond to you as they
see fit. Read what I wrote. I don't know her
music, except for that video. It's clear that
she is being promoted, like everyone else.

I would not be buying tickets to see that
show, unless Billy, Gadd or Vinnie or some-
one like that was the drummer.

I think you're reacting a bit slighted... Did I not already say that there's not enough in her material to warrant me buying a whole cd of hers?! And trust me, there isn't enough time in the day for me to comment on any subject matter from anyone simply for the sake of being "controversial".

My take is that Candy can play the sax. The fact that I or anyone else may or may not like what she does has no bearing on her level of skill to play her instrument. All it means is that some like it and others don't. She's done some things that I personally like, that's just me, nothing to make a fuss over.

My thing is the lady has had the guts to put whatever it is she has on the firing line, sadly to be critisized and even insulted by those who have never even posted a single note by way of themselves. You see a musical problem? Then fix it with a musical solution. In other words, what have you done??!!

And your definition of "fusion head" as it relates to the music is only for those who sees fusion as a whole in that particular light... I don't.
