Personally, I've always felt that Chambers was the choice of a drummer for the Brecker Brothers. When you consider the unpredictable complex syncopated arrangements that's character of BB's music, can't help but to say DC was the man for the gig.

Oh and BTW, that bass player is a killer! Anyone knows who this man is?

Again, that's my opinion for what's it worth,

Yes Rac, you're right about Dennis Chambers being a perfect choice for the Brecker Brothers. The bass player on that footage is James Genus. He and Chambers are an excellent pair.

I have that footage plus a few others when Chambers together with Dave Weckl and Rodney Holmes were the drummers for the Brecker Brothers reunion tours in the 90's.

Kind regards,
Anders

I'll third and fourth that emotion Spanky....WOW for sure!

You know what? I'm curious what Chambers will sound like as he ages. Imagine that kind of energy and intensity start to mellow down; and I don't say that in a demeaning way what so ever. That's why personally, I love Lenny White's playing even more now than ever before.

There is a richness of quality that is really unexplainable in terms of esthetic value and the artistry of technique coupled with years of experience and the natural process to ageing. Would you somewhat agree?

Recently, I've taken much interest on studying this phenomena because I believe a wealth of knowledge can be gain in outlook and approach to playing with music. Some may not think this a phenomena, but what or however you percieve it and I believe is not subjective but more so an objective and real observation.

Lenny White: Traps the art of drumming interview
And of course, all these years later we’re
individually better players on our instruments.
We’ve all gone through so many
different experiences in music and in life
since then. We’ve grown, and that’s bound
to be reflected in the music.

Artists I have in mind in my personal observation to this concept and not necessarilly in that order are;

Lenny White
Dinnis Chambers
Gerry Brown
Billy Cobham
Omar Hakim
Dave Weckel
