Anybody have any ideas what Billy will be playing for the Spectrum Dates?
Yamaha Maple Absolutes, I would guess, with his trademark Two bass drums and 7 toms?
I guess Yamaha will have kits delivered for him at the different venues.
The last U.S. dates he did, he had a Blue Sparkle Absolute kit.
Thanks to Ted for the pictures!

drumman,

I can tell you this much... At Yoshi's in San Francisco, Billy will use two 24" kick drums while in Oakland he will use two 20" kicks.... The show in Oakland will not be Spectrum but Billy & Friends and will be an acoustic jazz kinda thing, though he will still use two bass drums. At one venue he will use maple and the other birch. He just bought a bunch of Axis equipment among some other things that he will be incorporating into his setup... Sounds like he's gonna come out swinging for the fences... I will know more later.

Don.

Aside from what, where and with whom Boomer has already committed, this is the kit I wish I could have obtained (and Mapex no less). Not necessarily a sonic thing for me; I just love the look of it, though Mapex is pretty decent! Yamaha is off the hook though, and they hold up really well!

That's a picture of Yamaha drums, Uncle.... I can tell by the Tom mounts. Mapex doesn't use mounts like that.

Yeah, you're right. I have the same mounts, but seem to remember on the old site someone saying they were Mapex. Who knows... mounts or mountains, Boomer's climbed them all! LOL!

It's a Blue Sparkle Birch Kit and has 2x 24" bass drums and only 1 20" bass drum. I was going to request another 20" from Yamaha but decided against it as this group actually comes close to representing the band that I worked in for Horace Silver back in 1968 Shocked I had one bass drum then so why not now? Question
No time got to go hang in there everybody!

There ya go Boomer! I know... I only wish others would take the time to perfect their artfulness as you have yours.

As for equipment, it's how it is performed upon, and not what's in our stick bag!

Cool Cool Cool
