It's a decent song. But I think chuck Mangione is a terrible flugelhorn player. Good keyboardist, though.

There were big in the seventies no doubt. I saw them live in Vegas back then and thought drummer, James Bradely Jr. (in video) was a very tight and together drummer. Have you heard the live at Hollywood Bowl version of that song? You may like it even better...But other than that they were alright.

Just a note; During that era it was drummers like James Bradely Jr. and Steve Gadd that made those blue batter heads popular. Remember those by Evans? Heads were two-ply and oil sandwiched between the plys. It gave a very dense sound. At the time that was sound in the studios. I would think it was vogue and for technical reasons in terms of recording. Talk about durability these heads withstood the test of abusive use.

My take,

Oh man! They still mak'em? Great! How do you like them. Ted, would you please ellaborate as to how it sounds and in what playing venue would you suggest using them with? Besides, I've always thought they look too cool when all drums have them on. cheers

Thanks,
rac

Well I happen to like my drums to have as little overtone as possible. For some guys , they may be a little too thuddy, if you know what I mean. So they may not be the best suited for recording. However I feel in a live situation, especially ones where you are having the drums miked, they work great. Sure beats having to put pieces of duct tape on the skins.

Plus, they last forever. I use a heavy stick, a 2B, and I tend to hit hard sometimes and I've yet to put a hole thru one yet.

Evans still makes them. I have them in black, on all my drums, including the bass drum. Not the snare, of course.

Thanks Ted for that information. I was hopeing they have the blue ones for the snare. I'm trying to cut some of the high tones on it. But I'll check their site.

Thanks,

A hydraulic for a snare , Rac ?? Might cut out way too much, although I've never actually tried it .

That's what I'm thinking Ted. The snare I want to try it on has too much of a cracking sound.
