Aloha my family, It's been a tad bit since I've last been here. Been away on business and personal matters and am glad to be back at the crib. Just thought I share this bit of info on Mel Brown, one of my influencials in R&B/Motown drumming. I'm sure some of you here have been to this club and is familliar with Mr. Mel Brown, laying-it-down expertese.

But after the all the hoopla about music these days, thought it be refreshing to look back on simply playing the music as it calls for it to be played.

Again, ...That 2 then that 4? Where did it all go?

I think it's still there, Rack. These days, if you can sift through all the
stuff that's being played before, during and after it, you just might find
it in there somewhere. Wink

Missed ya, bro.

I know a guy who lays it down pretty good........... heard him a few months ago on a Marvin Gaye track played by a band called the Joint Chiefs or 'something'......... so I guess Don could be right about some people still actually laying down a groove like Mel........ Oh well. Rolling Eyes

Man being here after for so long is like having a fresh drink of pure water....refreshing in keeping the sanity. Razz

But yeah....D and Boomer, I guesse you're right - it's gotsta be still there. Here locally everbody is doing all the flash and jumpy stuff and I find it hard to relax around it. We got some jazz somewhat here, but it's in the cool catagory. Next time my wife and I go on vacation, we usually start in Los Vegas (wife's famely) then proceed unto San Francisco then ending in Seatlle. Probably find some better stuff in the Bay area but not sure about Seatlle. Would you know of any place there in Seatlle, Washington that would have some good music anyone?

Thanks,
Rac

Thank you for the compliment, Billy! That means a lot coming
from a groove master (among other things) such as yourself.

It always a good sign that you're on the correct path when
the teacher finds some favor in his student.
