I think that interview was done long after Al had been kicked off the new RTF tour. Remember Chick , Lenny and Stanley went out again as a trio right after the RTF reunion tour was over. It was at that point they knew Al would not be a part of it.

Funny he mentions chick being an egomaniac. Actually, he is more an egomaniac than Chick. This surfaced during the tour as Al would almost never show up for the meet and greets that people paid for as part of the package. He did make one or two but He didn't show in New York at the one I went to.

I can also now reveal that the guitarist originally supposed to replace Al on the tour [ which was planned well over a year ago] was Jimmy Herring - but because of tour conficts it didn't work out . Jimmy did do some gigs with Lenny in his power trio combo, though. Then Bill Connors was tapped to come on board but that didn't pan out either so now it's Frank Gambale, who is more than capable of doing the job.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for most of the US leg of the tour. Two nights at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. I plan to make one of them. Good luck !

WOW, that is amazing, Al Dimeola thinks he is a Rock Star.
Chick Corea gave him his start with Return to Forever, which he forgets.
It is a shame to see him blame others for his own personal problems.

Al is making a mistake by publicly attacking Chick like that, this will have future repercusssions for
him when he tries to find work, Chick has a lot of friends in the business and this type of unprofessional
behavior with back fire on him.

As long as he wears that cape and vest i don't care what he does.

Yes he got a great start back in '74
but after the long recent tour with RTF there was problems
and Chick controls it all.

I think Al can still return to RTF Touring
once they are good mates again.
