This is a video that my daughter got me last week and was posted on YouTube recently. Thought you might like it. It's John Mayer playing outside of his pop mainstream teeny-bopper-stuff. He had two different bands playing different segments of the concert. This one was his power trio R&B band. It shows his appreciation for Hendrix (band of Gypsies style) and R&B rock. He stated in the video that by going this way (R&B) it would lower his popular mainstream record sales...so he thought. His response to his critics that was tracking him was...I dont care. His love is obviously R&B rooted and his praise for having Steve Jordan (Living Colors) on drums puts it all together. What's interesting is that in spite of his drifting into this vintage R&b, Mayer continues to be a multi-grammy award-winning, platinum-selling singer/songwriter. His market simply loves him and buys into whatever and where ever he leads. Establishing that kind of clout in such a competitive market ,having no appreciation nor 'sense' for authentic R&B music is just unheard of.

Interesting.

Hi pal. Steve Jordan a member of Living Colour? Since when? Does it mean that Will Calhoun left the band?

Ever since John Bunham replaced Will then to Jordan....No I'm just joking. You are correct. My bad on the misquote here. That's who I meant to say was Calhoun and not Jordan. Though I may have seen Jordan sit in with the band that played for Saturday night live and that might have jarred my thinking here.

I have this Blu-ray dvd... It's three concerts in one.
He does an acoustic set, This three piece version you
see here and then a set with a full band. The show is
smokin all night! I was at Circuit City and I was watching
this dvd that they were using as a demo. I inquired about
it and it wasn't being sold to the public at that time. The
sales rep said he wasn't allowed to give to me but could
sell it to me for 1 penny and that's how I wound up with
this gem.... Great show. everyone involved was smokin.

Steve didn't play with the full sized band.
