WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE
DRUM KIT
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST

What is the most expensive drum kit in the world?

Many people have the passion to learn to play the drums and become a famous rock star. In the late 1800’s the popularity of drum kits soared long before rock, music was famous. These drum kits became even more popular during the 1920’s with the New Orleans Jazz crowd.

Today, if you purchase a drum kit you will receive a bass drum, a snare drum, cymbals, and tom toms. You can even decide to add other percussion accessories to your drum kit according to your preferences. You can start at the bottom of the ladder in price and pay around $500 all the way up to $5,000 for custom drum kits.

If you would rather by vintage then you may be interested in the most expensive drum kit in the world. The “Moon the Loon’s” custom made 1968 Premier drum kit was auctioned off at Christie’s in London in 2004 for a whopping $252,487 or £139,650.

The Moon the Loon’s drum set was owned by none other than Keith Moon who was the famous drummer of The Who.

Aw Come on Don ! Tell us How You ReallY Feel ??

I guess the drum solo sucked too ? That was Carl Palmer. He used to study with Buddy Rich. And I guess the keyboardist had no talent either ? that was Keith Emerson.

Hey, that was prog-rock back in the mid 70's . I seriously wish there was a way I could magically feed you some special mushrooms because you need to be dosed , my friend ! Maybe Spanky will fly out to the coast and psychedelicize you !

Well, it takes all kinds but I
will have you know that he
was my first real inspiration
on the drums. He made me
want to really become a
drummer. I spent all my
time trying to learn ELP
tunes. I went on to Yes
and Crimson and all, until
one day, I heard Billy.

affraid sunny

i have to admit i became disinterested in ELP around brain salad surgery.
But that is one hell of a drum solo there.
i certainly find it more interesting than anything much that buddy played.
i didn't care about the gongs and bells section but his snare drumming is hard to beat.
after the drugs wore off everyone looked at each other and said ,
"man this tune sucks!"

Brain Salad Surgery, was the only ELP album not like otherwise than that, I am still a ELP fan. Carl Palmer is a great drummer, and one of the best trad grip drummers in rock. Dropped a lot of acid listening to these guy's. Very Happy Smile sunny

Hey, Kenny, maybe Ted can hook you up with some mushrooms
and medicinal marijuana. Or maybe some of the stuff that he's
growing in his guest bedroom closet. Then post back and let us
know what you think after smoking and taking another listen. Wink

The solo was okay, but to me it sounded like Buddy Rich playing a
large drum kit. Those gongs and that bell could have stayed at home.

Dropped a lot of acid listening to these guy's.

It stands to reason, Spanky....

I believe Carl palmer sold that steel custom kit to ringo. it once broke through a stage due to it's weight.
I thought they were a brilliant group[ and opened many young people's ears to classical music.
I guess i just became disinterested in the long windedness of progressive conceptualism or i stopped
heavy drug use by then not sure which. I used to hippie dance but that was to keep the music out of my eyes.

Well, I never did drugs of any kind, and I pretty much developed my chops playing along with ELP in my teens. Palmer was a big influence for me. I would agree that his playing is very much like Buddy's. He has mentioned the influence Buddy was on him. Elvin, too, actually. He's a big band fan. Much like old big band drummers and the shows they put on with various tricks and all, Palmer felt, and still feels the aspect of showmanship. ELP was all about bombast in many ways, and the bell in the teeth stuff was part of Palmer's contribution to it all, including some pretty incredible stick work and tricks he still does today. He does this thing of balancing and bouncing a stick on his ride cymbal which I'd not seen done before. It's pretty cool when he can pull it off. He's got great hands, great timing, and always tried to be as musical as possible. That was always a major concern for him. He was said in an interview that people say he's fast or not funky, but he just tries to be a musical drummer. That statement made a huge impression on me when I heard it.

As far as their music, I loved it, including the posted piece. But then, yeah, MO, RTF, JLP and more fusion came along and ELP took a personal back seat for me. I always thought Lake had a splendid voice. They just fit quite well together, despite background hassles between them.

I may be wrong but I believe that stainless steel set was donated by Ringo to the Smithsonian. It had hunting scenes engraved all over it. The bass drum weighs around 200 pounds. Had some of the first trigger set ups for acoustic drums ever developed. I always wondered what those drums would have sounded like as two-headed toms.
