84 Year Old Drummer!

Notice how relaxed this cat is from years of playing, he just plays with ease.

Now taken it to the streets.
I thought this kid really kicks. I would say this is a lot of practice time here. My hope is that he trains with people to play music, but other than that, I have to say this kid kicks...hard and you just have to love the passion here.

From boys to men;

Speaking of one of the older (elders of our inspirations) artist. This, in my estimate, if trained correctly, encourged to listening and to being open to the right folk, only then one has the potential for it all to filter down to simply pure artistry! This my friends is the pulp of collaberative musical essence! Take note here, this is not sterile playing but organic, raw yet aesthetically profound in it's own respect. Everything is ingrained there musically and compositionally. My fave and always my fave forever...legendary Mr. Lenny White.

You may take notice of Lenny's applied technique of Jim Chapin's jazz ride pattern and simultaneously playing the other shells outside of that (mid-way of video) - great polyrythmic concentration and hand technique happening here people. We know that Lenny makes it look simple but really it's not...trust me on this. These are the subtlties I've been refering to in previous posts. Lenny takes this technique even further heard on RTF's recent 2-CD recording, Forever where everything they played in the 70s' were filtered down to the artistry of jazz. And when I say down I don't mean lesser but more in the sense of the purest in musical refinement. This is where my objective is during my practice time and hope it gets to that level.

Yeah, others may differ, but these are my unchanging thoughts here. Need I say more.?
