Some may disagree, but from my first exposure to Gergo Borlai till today I see this guy as employing the most intelligent and musical use of blinding speed and technique. It's amazing to behold.

Had never heard of Nicolas Vicarro. This is a pretty interesting duet. Lots of fireworks.

Never heard of this gentlman.

The first video was just plain boring to me. Though,
the two of them played very uniformly and that's a
good thing. Outside of that, nothing really new outside
of the drummers chops thing.

The second video I really dug. Those polyrhytmic offsets
over the straight 2 & 4 were wicked! The drums sounded
killer also. That snopping (snap and pop) snare drum was
KILLIN ME! Great control... Very enjoyable.

I seem to recall posting some vids by Borlai here on the forum some time back.

He's a jobber. I don't think he belongs to any particular band. I see him in different vehicles all the time.

There are vids of him at Euro festivals and various concert footage in small trios and fusion groups. He plays it all. So many players with speed tend to just strike anything in their path but Borlai seems to have a very precise thought pattern when he's really cranking. A very intelligent drummer. He is one of the best I've ever heard or seen at building a solo.

Hey Don,
That snare drum sound on the second vid is massive. Gated Reverb for sure. Really crispy on top and full bodied.
