Just picked up a Sonor Safari kit.  16X16" bass drum, 5X14
snare 8X10" rack and a 12X14 floor tom.

I was always curious how a club set would work for me but
always dismissed the idea until I went to a show and saw
someone using one.  The kit was SO phat, I couldn't believe it!

I'm actually using this setup in smaller clubs with the new Funk/rock
band I've been playing with the past year and several months now.
It's bumpin! It takes an 18" sub, a Shure beta 52A, an Aquarian Super
Kick-1 batter head and a kick port resonate head insert to get it there
but it works!

The color is called "Black galaxy sparkle" which is actually just a blue
sparkle so I have no Idea why they call it that.  What I really like about
it though is it's that old school real sparkle.  The kind that twinkles and
sparkles when you walk around it...  Very cool.  I can also use it for the
jazz dates I get from time to time...  Stout lil' kit!

I was always curious about those, Don.
Keep us informed about how they are.

I can tell you now that they're cool, Woody.
though they probably work best for a jazz
situation, with the right bass drum heads, mic
and P.A. setup the kit winds up being a punchy
little monster that bites hard. You can use
them for just about any musical situation you
find yourself in. Very resonate, round tones
with great attack.

The price is $389.00 but I picked up a floor model
for $359.00

Small footprint which is great for small clubs and small
stages.... It was a good investment for me for sure.

Am I seeing things correctly here D?...The kit is actually only $389. I may be misunderstanding that.
No pun intended my friend, but if that's the price, than what we're looking at is a very sophisticated toy. Well hell...I'll buy one of these over an iPhone any day  cheers

Nope! Your eyes are not deceiving you, Rac! And this is
the price they're selling them in the stores also... $389.00
plus tax. And the online stores don't charge the tax in many
cases.

I've been enjoying the Ludwig breakbeat kit w 16" bass.. Someone told me they are poplar shells. They really put out some sound I play them with jazz and funk stuff the drums really sing I wasn't expect ing it but I noticed when I set up some other drums around they really had some volume and ring to them in comparison and I only played their matched sound. Plus I use a bronze hammered snare now with them. Got a Bosphorus ride cymbal can't wait to get these together.
