Wow! I remember this profile pic of Billy
with the Topeka T shirt from the "Magic"
album. I believe this was his very first
album with Tama as he had just gotten
the endorsement deal.

I saw him shortly before this at San Jose
State do a clinic with Mark Soskin, keys
and the then Santana bass player. Name
escapes me. All three of them were amazing.

I still have the scar on my chin from when
my jaw hit the floor after seeing Billy in
person for the first time in 1977. He was
just 32, 33 years old then...

That's a clinic I will never, ever forget as
long as the Good Lord gives me days to
breathe.

I remember seeing Billy and his band around that time at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT. I could not tell you the songs played or what musicians were in the band. All I remember is Billy behind his big set, either a natural finish or white, I can't quite remember. Standing about 20, 25 feet away ... the speed and power. It was earth shattering for me.

I remember he had problems with his electronics. His sequencer wasn't working during one of his solos. He shut it down and just wailed.

Yeah, jaw dropping.

Yes that gig  or another  is online.  It went out on Sansui Sponsered (Radio)  at the time.
He had to rush a solo but then  Stopped shouting at the stage Engineer.
