Ok guys, below are two links that cover the same tune. The first is the original drum track that was done in April and the second is the retake that was done a couple of weeks ago. The recording of the drums came out better the second time around and the drum solo at the end was an attempt to produce a more melodic and rhythmic function.

The solo on the first one was pretty much a take no prisoners approach that I thought wasn't really bad in itself but seemed to overwhelm the character of tune. After listening to it I decided I wanted to do the solo over. As it was, because of changing circumstances over the three month span between takes, I wound up doing the entire drum track. And only with a 4 piece kit instead of the 5 piece I had originally recorded with. Keyboards were added on the retake and sax and guitar solos will be added shortly to complete this piece. Please keep in mind that this is not the final mix.

Let me know what you think.

It's like we discussed on the phone Neph!... your first solo displayed your passion and it's too bad (I feel) that could not be captured in the what you Guys deemed as the 'final mix." I loved your playing.

Yet your 2nd solo demonstrates control and careful thinking about how to meld into the overall scheme of things: you know, where everyone knows exactly where they are without the fear they never should have had in the first place. I'm aware of the technical issues (and the need for re-setup), but I wish the first solo would have released those "WORRIES!"

Just being sensitively honest my friend!

LOL!

Thank you Uncle. My own personal view is this solo works best with the overall structure of the tune. I persnally like it better because more thought in terms of direction(s) was put into it and it doesn't sound like I'm just blowin chops. The first solo was about me, and there's nothing wrong with that as that's what solos are for to a degree. This solo is about the music and I feel that because of that, myself, the music, along with everyone else involved wins.

It's old news anyways... I posted this here two months ago.

Thank you. though.

Neph.
