Ken Scott Sonic Reality Collection

Here's a cool video about the upcoming release of the Boomer samples on the Ken Scott Sonic Reality Collection. Says April release. Now we can have our drums sound like Boomer's old Fibes even though we won't be mistaken for him anytime soon ! LOL Thanks to Walter K for the heads up !


Boomer, any thoughts on the sessions and on hooking up with Ken Scott again after these many years ? He worked on a number of your early albums, and you were obviously happy with the job he did. Were there any unusual techniques that he employed to get that sound ? Thanks. Peace, TED

It's great seeing Billy again playing the Fibes kit. Thanks for posting that Ted.

We recorded at a place that was definitely a throw back to more rustic, earthy times when analog ruled. When you check out the video understand that the older people you see in the video, down on their hands and knees move at least 60% slower than they used to 'Back in the day". What we got done was based upon silent prayer and past experiences. the end result is still left to you who seek to take the "fly on the wall" approach by imagining through the sounds and scenes, what it might have been like once upon a time. All in all, it was a very good experience.

Is that Billy's original Fibes kit?
It looks like it might be a new kit created for him, if you notice it has R.I.M.S. on the toms.
Fibes still makes the same drums today, they are now a high priced boutique company.

Considering Billy has sold off almost all of his former kits, I wonder if he still has the original drums.
They would now be 37 years old from May 1972 when he got them.
These look to be much more recent than that, maybe Boomer can shed some light on the subject?
