Re: http://www.myspace.com/bryanlopestrio

Brian Lopes – sax
Neil Fountain – bass
Jeff Sipe – drums

This is avant garde totally unguarded in my book… and it’s only three guys (as if I’m surprised). Not! The few players allow more freedom of expression.

Check it out at your liesure …

Bryan is friends with Steve Freeman (a member of the Atlanta based Guild of Sound). Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to play with Bryan on my project… still in production right now. The Guild is alive and well… just saw Steve Freeman at the studio a few weeks ago, and have worked in town with the Guild fairly recently.

I'm listening to Happy Evil as I write this.... I'm diggin it! Nice fusion of Jazz, funk and rock! Loved the ending. I'll listen to more and post comments accordinly.

These guys sound pretty hip! cheers

Ok, I'm listening to Bouncy Pants.... Lovin it! If I can inject something, Uncle. These guys sound a little too uniform for me to classify them as "ungaurded" I would call them more guarded, actually, but that's just me. Man I Love the grooves! I'm now listening to Razor egg hunt live in Berlin. Now this tune has it's ungaurded moments... Love they way they switch gears! Mr. Moose's side show, swing it baby. These cats are Killin!

Bass, drums and sax, GEEZZ!!!

Thanks for putting this up Unc. I gotta look into these cats some mo!

Neph.

Excellent players all Cuz - I really enjoyed listening to the 4 songs on the site. their sound reminded me a little of an English group in the 70's called Back Door featuring Colin Hodgkinson on bass. they too had the bass, drums, sax set-up. thanks for that ! Peace, TED

Yeah, that's some very fun stuff. I especially like the drumming and the whole sound on Bouncy Pants. While living in Chicago, I enjoyed seeing Ken Vandermark in various configurations including this one.

Here's the Ken Vandermark 5 in a great video:

Yeah, I figured the expansiveness of the Bryan Lopes trio would evoke varying levels of appreciation from you guys. I guess that I called it "unguarded," rather than merely "avant garde." Once again its a matter and use after the definition of terms... especially in the "arts."

Glad you guys enjoyed it.
