Well this past thursday was a special night at Paddy Doherty's. It was a birthday celebration for two of the Curtin brothers - John and Tim.
Tim's birthday was Feb 1 and John's was Feb 4th, though they are born 10 years apart. Tim always says they're Polish twins being born ten years apart nearly to the day.
They usually try to play together that day. Not always easy as John lives in Pennsylvania and Tim in New York but since Tim had the gig, John and his wife came in. They also brought Shawn Klush, the #1 Elvis tribute artist in the world - as rated by Graceland's Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley.
I got to play a tune also, which was a treat for me, as John and I go back to high school days together.
The lighting was non-existent as the bulbs from the track light above the performance area had blown and had not been replaced. And they are special high intensity lamps so they are not readily available, and we didn't know about it till we showed up. So I used the night setting on the camera . It's a little dark and the movements appear like streaming video as the camera has to shoot at slower frames per second to compensate for the lack of light. But, as always, it is what it is.
Anyway, I requested we play Reelin in the Years by Steely Dan, a tune they played 20 years ago in one of their bands. So they dusted off the cobwebs and away we went. Here it is : Hope you like it ! Apologies in advance for the slow download as it is a big file. But you can blow it up to full screen with no loss and the audio is 16 bit, so whattaya want ! LOL
Enjoy ! http://www.drumminfool.com/recent/reelinintheyears2-4-10.wmv
