"Maybe this is why in reality only God is truly great and nothing else."
Amen and amen, to that. I was driving back from a long trip yesterday and was contemplating all the discussion we've had here on "greatness," and as I drove along the same thought traveled along with me; when I consider Christ and what our Creator has done for us, there really is nothing else that is great. It all truly becomes nothingness by comparison. And everything that is, every talent, is all lent of God. No one has any claims to anything. No spotlights are worthy. No name has any real greatness.
When I was an atheist I used to think all kinds of things were "great." I emulated so many people in my young years - athletes, drummers ... all "vanity," as Solomon wrote.
Of course, God has given talents and abilities and people work hard at things, and we give honor where honor is due. But yeah, your comment really struck home after thinking about that yesterday.
