We can say what we want to about all the new players and techniques, but Buddy was just bloody cool, man.

You're right about drums alone... All you can hear is drums.

Supposed to be that way. Remixed to hear just what Buddy was playing.

Check out this version of Birdland and the whole show is quite remarkable. Just when I think BR seems dated, he makes it all hypermodern again. Live in '78.

Great Drummer.

I would Love Billy Cobhams 1975 (released 1978)
long track
Inner Conflicts - Drums with phasors only

I really dug that Birdland. His skill
was/is clear. There is no doubt that
he holds a bar up for us.

The tempo, in particular, helped to
show his ability to swing, which is
sometimes overshadowed by the
monstrous technique.

Playing traditional (these days) and
leading left (with it, sometimes), I
was keen on his left hand. I have
really worked on this over the last
few years and must say that I have
to credit Buddy.

Extraordinary ability. His work was
great and inspiring.

Regards,
