Keith Moon's life was far more troubled than I really understood. The forthcoming film featuring Mike Myers will probably be very heavy . . .

You can learn more in this biographical series:

Moon's first wife died in 2006 in a car accident:

Their daughter, Mandy Moon, lives in California with two children and she is in support of the foundation:

100% behind your campaign " Mandy Moon"

Keith Moon's daughter Mandy Moon- " FINALLY! I cant tell you how much i am in support of your campaign and i shall help you in anyway, i cant really see how though but i will do it. something like this should of been set up so many years ago but i suppose with the media portraying it as 'cool' what hope have any rockstars got. but i can tell you it wasnt cool when, from a very young age, your father was having ridiculous outbursts and hurt my mother intentionally and unintentionally on so many occasions i dont remember a lot of my father but most of what i do isnt good but i still adore the man because i see that it wasnt him it was the booze and the drugs. If there was something like this out back in the 60/70's im sure my dad would be alive today and for that reason i am 100% behind the keith moon foundation. much love Mandy Moon.

I've always identified with Keith Moon in name and even have the same birthday. I had always accepted his self-destructive tendencies with drugs and alcohol as part of his own problems and personal demons and this is something he was fighting to overcome. And his destruction of property, i.e., hotel rooms and drum kits, was seen as performance art. He had artistic temperament to the max and seems to have chosen to blur the lines of reality. He may have been actually insane at times. This is the power of The Who.

But to discover domestic violence was part of his life surprised me and now overshadows the life of Keith Moon for me. I'm saddened by it. I don't believe it was more accepted by society at the time and just seems to be a huge dividing line . . . this alone changes everything. Torture of self is completely different than torture of another . . . No Sad

In honor of both Keith's - Bell and Moon , here is a medley of two Who songs which I did with Route 66 in 1986 at a rehearsal. We didn't have an ending at the time, but this is the only recording I have of those songs. Hope you like em . Peace. TED Please paste the whole link. this program doesn't like spaces.

I'm only surprised that you were surprised, Woof. The handwriting was pretty much on the wall.

I will be interested to see this.

Of course, how can any of us
not feel sorry about the way
things ended for him? He was
one of rock's great drummers.

I wonder what he could have
become had he not gone that
route. Some would argue that
without the pain, he would not
have been as great. I wonder
if that is not a lie.

Again, it is plain that there is
always a story behind a picture.
Always, always, always.

Regards,

Of course, you're right about that, Don. Domestic violence is so pervasive, especially coupled with alcohol abuse. I just didn't know about that particular aspect of Moon.

Just as with many great artists, internal anger fuels them . . . and the tears are manifested within the art itself . . . as someone once told me, blues is roots and the rest is just fruits . . .

I feel ya, woof! Quite a few of our musical geniuses, legends were quite troubled mentally, emotionally and in some cases even both. I find it quite puzzling. Toward the end, friends would find Marvin Gaye wandering in a daze crossing some overpass and would take him home like a lost puppy... Parker, Coltrane, there was this smokin jazz trumpet player who would be high as a kite on heroin and still play the valves off his instrument. his name escapes me but I remember he was white and wore those black horn rimmed glasses. Does anyone know who I'm talking about. I heard a radio interview with his wife who said that some of his most steller performances happened when he was riding the white horse.

The end is never pretty for these folks, though. Sad

keithmoonmovie

Hey everyone. This week Roger Daltrey stated that the Keith Moon movie that was planned to be released in 2012 is currently stalled. I was so disappointed about this that I created a petition to see if we can generate some buzz to help get this project on track.
Please sign the petition to get this Keith Moon movie rolling again at:

This is not spam (This site costs me money and I dont earn a dime on it). Please sign this petition and I will make sure we get it in front of the powers that be.

Chet Baker is the trumpeter, Don I think. Plus he was a great, great singer as well as one of the most lyrical soloists I've ever heard.
In all of this that reflects upon Keith and the rest of mankind, there is YIN AND YAN in everything we do. Out of the bad will come the good as I have seen the reverse to be true as well. The 'glue' that ties our actions together is the word "timing" as in understanding what was done "when?" and "where?" and then "why?" All questions that hoover around the "timing" of an action.

Woof, Billy, thanks... It's amazing what some can do even when they are stoned out
of their minds... I wonder how much better Chet could have peformed with a clear head.

Boomer forgot to mention that he met Keith and watched him play.
I am not sure if that is true, but I read it in a book about the Who, called "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere"
He was quoted as telling Keith, "I am not sure what you are doing, but keep doing it"
