I took an idea from Billy's page and have recently started wearing cotton cloth head bands and bandanas when I play. I'm one of those guys that sweat like a pig when I get physical and the sweat would run into my eyes and burn something fierce! I never wanted to wear any of those athletic stretch head bands because they look so 80's. I'm digging these cloth ones, though.

Even when I work with EC Scott and have to wear a tux I will wear a black and white bandana. Doing this has solved the sweat in the eyes problem 100%... Not to mention I also think it looks cool. Cool

Thanks, BC... Wink

I sweat like crazy too Don. I sometimes wear a scull cap or a bikers bandana when I play, but usually only on outdoor gigs, and more to protect my balding head from the sun, that anything. Laughing

I find that although I sweat alot, having something on my head makes me hotter, and I just can't seem to cool down, wearing it.

If I pour some cool water on my head, that seems to work best, ( not for a "tux" gig, obviously! Shocked ), and of course I keep a towel handy.

I used to wear bandanas, too, but my sweating has become so profuse that I've been wearing a disposable diaper on my head. And that's not the worst of it. I also use a drool bucket . . . depending on who's singing. And I always keep a fresh roll of Brawny™ under the ride cymbal . . . using the new LP PT attachment system.

Hi Don,

I've been wearing the bandanas for quite some time now, and they work great for me as well as look cool too. Nothing worse than getting sweat in your eyes and not being able to wipe them!--Oh man, I can't tell you how many times I've been in that position-

Especially when I had shorter hair- I play in TX and southwest a lot, and it's brutal down there with the heat. I wear one every gig.

Russ,

The heat from wearing a bandana really hasn't been an issue with me. My wife bought me various colors and I always try and wear lighter colors when playing outside. I find them quite comfortable truthfully.

Woof,

I used to carry a drool bucket with me also but quicky discovered that the absorbing properties in my drum carpet is much more effective. And when I get home, alls I do is hang it out on the clothes line and let it drip dry. In a day or so, it's all good to soak up another gig's worth.... Saves money on watering the lawn too! Not to mention my new found incentive to go into the bottled water business.

D.L.,

I saw a picture of you on your myspace page wearing a bandana but I don't think you were behind the drums at the time. You still looked hecka cool though. Works well though don't they? You be careful in that Texas heat, dawg.

I'm rolling on the floor laughing at that one. You are one of a kind Woof!

Seriously though, there have been times when the sweat rolled in my eyes just like you Neph. It all depends on venue and staging though (light intensity, etc.). I'll check this out the next time I play... assuming of course I can make a fashion statement. Smile

I sometimes use pantiliners. They work well because there is adhesive on one side which you can stick to your forehead. But be sure to get the ones with "wings" as they are the most absorbent ! lol!

You know, Nephew D.Slam actually had a serious comment when he began this thread. Good one man... glad the bandana is working for you: so what are you going to do about the "grease" problem [just kidding]. pirat

But after reading your's Cousin Ted, and previously Woofus' comment, my gut hurts with laughter!

I'm done... while looking for the suitably sized tampax that sticks in my ears. Eddie Murphy could easily portray a drummer with these challenges.

Hey Nephew... see what you started? Headbands and bandanas have now been reduced to comedics instead of serious conversation. OOPS, I'm sorry: it was WOOFUS who came in with his comical side of things!

Ted... that was brilliant and likely will appear on some comedy skit that on a comedy channel's writers jump off on.

Yeah, really, I didn't even know pantyliners had wings until today. Even pantyliners without wings wasn't part of my vocabulary. He's either telling the truth or, as known, has encyclopedic knowledge.

Ted, would you recommend these?

OH MY GOOD GOD! You guys are killin' me. Apparently I'm not done enough yet for a fork to be stuck in.

Hey Nephew Don... I believe not only is Ted not kidding, but neither is Keith (Woofus). This is so rich that perhaps I need to take the Tampax out of my ear in order to stay tuned to what else you Guys are going to come up with. rendeer farao jocolor

Don... it is clear that though you meant a serious thread, our brothers tend to take it anywhere it can go! I love it. All in good fun though.

Thanks Guys... you've given me the best laugh I'd had All Week!

I love ya... for REAL!
