Hi Pete, I've written in the Cobham forums before. Long time ago. Different username.
Actually forgot the name! Usually just checked in to read some of the more interesting threads. Didn't even know the site was now here until the other one went back up. This leads to a question. What's up with Donati's site?
There used to be much more forum activity. You even posted there quite a bit.
Now it seems not very active. Well, good to see this forum still going strong!
Oh, House of Drumming seems to have a decent forum. Any comments on that site, Pete?

Hi, Swirler! Welcome back.

Well, as for Virgil's, I think
you might have noticed that
the kinds of posts that cont-
inually went up, were geared
towards show and technique
and old-timers, like me, just
get a little overrun, trying to
emphasize something else.

Don't get me wrong. Virgil
is not about that. When I
talk to him, it's all different.
He's a real drummer, always
trying to find his way to the
groove, even through all
that odd-time. You can hear
it in his subdivisions and
more than clearly, if you
get the chance to hear him
speak. I love the guy.

I still post, especially about
pedals and I will always
dart in, every now and then.

At HOD, it's a whole different
animal. There are some very
heavy cats, there and real
fine advice and ideas.

The site is basically in tribute
to Vinnie. Of course, I love
him and enjoy sharing with
others that do, too.

It has its share of flaming
but it's kept pretty much
under control. Steve Holmes
is a fine player and with
good taste. He has help
from a couple of other
players that moderate, as
well and they do a fine job.
It's his site.

There is a drummer that I
really like (Dazzler), that
is very jazz and big-band
oriented and I really enjoy
his playing and more groove-
oriented emphasis but let
me worn you - he is out-
spoken. LOL

In genneral, that forum is
more groove oriented. Jeff
and Gadd fans are very
much at home, there.

Another dear friend of mine
and great drummer: Tom
Hipskind visits there and
I should also include the
likes of Peter Erskine and
he is, of course, a monster.

Killer, Gary Husband, visits,
along with others.

I have been a little quiet,
there, on pedals, since the
DW problems but will reopen
that box, when my pedals
come back and I test them,
myself. One of the moderators
endorses DW, so he takes
issue if I report any related
disappointment but let's
hope I won't have to, in
the future.

I hope that answers your
questions.

Regards,

Agreed! It's a whole different planet over there...

Planet footspeed.

Well, ain't that just tuff!!!
What's good for the goose
isn't always good for the
gander. If he likes his pedals
and they are working for him
then that's a good thing. The
likes and dislikes of others should
be respected.

Pete,

Funny you should mention the big band stuff because I just read through
that whole thread you were involved with at H.O.D.

I guess it's o.k. to
really dig some players but sometimes the worship gets to be a bit much
as is the Vinnie thing over there.

I always enjoyed your input on pedals. I agree that for the money it's tough
to beat the Eliminators. By the way, what cam are you using nowadays?
Still the same spring tension?

I have been playing my
Axis-A Twins, as well as
the Eliminator Twins.

I have rounded some,
with the Blues, of late.
Usually, I use the Purple
Cams. I have pulled back
the angle of the beater
just a tad.

Still waiting for the Boa's
and am anxious to see
the fix and how they did
it. I hope they got it.

By the way, are you still using the lax spring tension?

Oh, yes! I forgot.

I tightened only slightly -
enough to match the left-
slave pedal. It's as slack
as it can stay the same.

I need them, always, to
be very light to my touch,
to keep my dynamics.

Any changes are usually
in the shape of the cam
and pull-down of the link.
It's all in that snap back,
for me. The cam and
'power-shifting' is every-
thing to me, now.

Actually HOD is pretty inactive if you compare it with how it was a few years ago, just a couple would be enough.

Sometimes hours would pass without anybody posting, that, some time ago, would have ben imposible to believe.

I can say the same for other forums I know.

What a coincidence, I was asking myself why is this TODAY ... This forum is also, much "slower" than it was in the past.

Probably is because the whole thing is SO SPREAD OUT TODAY, I mean, there are so many forums...Also once some subjects are exhausted...

Best regards!

Well, you are right, Alex.

People do change, over the
years, experiences molding
them, making them different.

Some people mature. Some
never do. That is the world.

I do remember when it was
that frequented. It HAS gone
through change.
