JVC /Universal have made the best quality CD system
Super High Material CD
this goes above 24 bit and now becomes the best sound
quality CD "that plays on any system."

Lee Ritenour , Harvey Mason '77 New type of CD SHM-CD 2586_1035322844346_1263715113_30107759_2942401_n

Harvey Mason on here has a Wooden Yamaha kit
I frst bought this on a DirectDisk LP (pre-CD digital) back in '77.

This SHMCD is power and even more clear on ever instrument
10 Outta10 great Jazz Fusion Music.
Anthony Jackson - Bass ,Dave Grusin , Patrice Rushen - Keyboards,
Steve Forman - Percussion , Ernie Watts - Sax,
Harvey Mason -Yamaha Drums,
& Lee Ritenour - Guitars.

Dave Grusin is on tracks 1-3
Patrice Rushen is on tracks 4-6.

Engineered by Phil Schier
No Dolby Used.
Warner Brothers Recording Studio North Hollywood
May 1977.

They are only in Japan at this time
but they are Doing Joe Sample and Marvin Gaye in
these new CD editions.

From a Link:

Concerning SHM-CD (the universal music)
25 years, the commodity which aims toward the improvement of the sound quality in various ways was developed from CD sale, but the high sound quality CD by the new material this time, with the universal music and the cooperation development of Nippon Victor, is sold.
Furthermore it improved transparency from the usual CD material by using the polycarbonate resin type of another kind, it is the birth of new CD.

Now I can understand many of you saying yet another CD type
but it goes like this in Quality
16bit CD 1st
20bit CD 2nd
24bit CD 3rd
SHM CD Japan Now the best out there.

I wish Billy Cobham had a CD on Univsersal
unless the GRP Japan comes under that group now.

Did you know that Birds of Fire
was made into a Quad LP back in '73-74
that means they could transfer that to a DTS 5.1/SACD Hybrid ediiton.
A Isley Brothers Quad LP mix was transfered to 5.1 SACD.

So this is even better than the SACD you always rave about ?

Have you actually heard this new format ?

Beween Nothingness & eternity also came out in quad, but not Inner Mounting Flame.

Peace, TED

It can not be better than SACD
as it is not Multi Channel.

But as a CD - it is now the Best out there
and plays on anything,

And yes I have this SHM CD.

Hi Colin,
this post is interesting,shm- cd from JVC and now blu-spec-cd formats from Sony are improvement of the 24b remastered cds but the sacd has a greater frequency response (up to 100khz) ,so a better resolution, nothing is more close from the master tapes than the sacd format, and that's what i'll try to buy as far as possible!
Peace,Stef

Yes and so much is Under Universal group.
This SHM-CD is above 24bit
so you hear everything like you are in the studio.

You can not compare it with Multi Channel
but for those of us that want the best in CD format
HMV Japan and there big stock of SHM CD
is the place to go

On the BlueSpec I will buy this one soon
as it has that Power drums on the Hollywood Mix bonus.

JVC Vs Sony

Full Circle.

This time they both win as play them on anything.
And dealers that do not sell them - are well behind the rest.

Highlights I love:

Tommy Bolin playing on Billy Cobhams 1973 DVDA/DTS 6.1

Jeff Beck 1976 Multi Channel SACD

George Benson 1976 DVDA

Herbie Hancock Multi Channel SACD with Harvey Mason 1973

Marvin Gaye with James Gadson on Drums Multi Channel SACD 1982

Isley Brothers 1973 taken from Quad LP Mix into Multi Channel SACD

Santana DTS Disc 6.1 1970

Genesis Hybrid SACD/DVDA/DTS 6.1 series 1970s -1980s

Harvey Mason on Yamaha Drums ' 77 SHMCD Lee Ritenour

System : Pioneer which plays SACD/ DVDA /DTS
and Hi Fi : Tascam, Sony , Pioneer, Sansui, Onkyo, Akai, Numark.
BluRay into Optical of Pioneer (picks up BluRay DTS)
Speakers: Wharfedale.

Music should be Heard the best way possible.

I just Recieved Joe Sample 'Carmel' 1979 SHM CD
with Dean Parks on some great backing Electric and Acoustic Guitar.
Paulinho Da Costa (percusssion)
Stix Hooper (drums)
Abe Laboriel (bass)

It is much better than than the Original CD
Percussion is clear
Piano is bright
the whole sound is above what a 24 Bit
could do.

In Japan Music Quality is High.
Great way to be.

10 Outta 10
