One of my favorite tunes of all time. Now i recognize Chester Thompson and John Wetton but not the others. Was that Michael Giles on flute ?
I thought they sounded incredible, even better than the real King Crimson. Which was my problem here. How can this band call themselves King crimson without Robert Fripp. The answer is : they can't. I wanted to see the rest of the credits so I will try to find this vid on you tube to see what context this is from.
Wetton was a part of mid period King Crimson but that's it. depending on who the others are. Chester was never in Crimson.Wetton does this tune also with Asia.
thanks for posting. it Spanky. Now I'm going to investigate it ! LOL

I just checked spanky. that's Steve Hackett and his band doing it. As I said, they did a great job with it but I objected to it being called King Crimson.
But , with all respect, you tube doesn't call it King Crimson, you did ! LOL
I've told this before but my first band was named Epitaph, after the song of the same title from that album.

Regarding the Greg Lake version, I like Lake's singing on the verses, and after all, he is the voice on the original recording. However when he gets to the chorus, he goes up like an octave to sing it, and I don't like that at all. and the band are a bunch of kids, who have no idea of the history of this song. So it kind of comes off as phoney baloney to me. and I don't like phoney baloney. Lake's been having major financial problems in recent years so he probably hired young kids so he wouldn't have to pay them much and he could make lots of money. too bad.
You should check out the Doc Severinson version of the song . He did it with the tonite show band on one of his records. it's a pretty interesting arrangement. Let me see if I can find it and come back and post the link here.

Hi,
That performance of In The Court of the Crimson King is actually from an official release "The Tokyo Tapes" from the late 90's. It's available both on dvd and cd. One of the first dvd's I bought back in 2002 if I remember correctly.
Wow, I never heard or knew of Doc's version, and so early at 1970. He puts some matador in there . . . still listening.
Saw Greg Lake NAIL the song with Ringo's All Star Band a few years back. And I mean it was nailed, just like 1969. And you know how much stock I put into spiritual time travel (Anamnesis).

I seem to be the main purveyor of the word these days. Putting two of my recent theories together, Anamnesis (the complete Elasticity of Time) is predicted by the Center of the Universe located past the Edge of the Universe (Cosmic Microwave Radiation Background). Divided by Hope and Redemption, it is equal to Fear leading to the answer of One.

I don't know, why but I like this girl, she reminds me of my hippie days, and I like the way she sings MoonChild, and I went to her My Space page and told her so.
