This past Wednesday I played a gig in Scotts Valley, a town in the Santa Cruz mountains about 30 miles south of where I live. In getting directly to the point, I was loading out after the show and drove off and left my cymbal bag on the curb. It had about $1000.00 (retail value) worth of cymbals in it. I didn't realize I'd done this until Friday when I had to play another show. You talk about bummed... Sad Sad Sad Sad these were a very nice and expensive set of cymbals.... Ride, crashes, hi hats, splashes, china's, the whole deal. I called the restaurant where we played that Wednesday and asked them to go out and see if they were still there just by chance..... They were not and I had resolved myself to excepting the fact that I had foolishly lost an expensive investment of some valuable music tools.

Anyway Friday and Saturday I played the other gigs I had with a spare set I have and while I was playing the gig on Saturday I received a call from a guy that told me that his wife who worked in the building next door had found a set of cymbals on the curb that he thought might belong to me... He said she found them Thursday night after she'd gotten off work which means they sat in the street an entire day and a half! She took them home and had her husband call the restaurant where we played and asked if anyone had inquired about them. They told him I did and gave him my #. He returned the cymbals to the restaurant and I picked them up after my gig yesterday which was in Capitola, about 10 minutes from Scotts Valley. AND GET THIS,,,,, The guy who returned them is a drummer! He could have had himself a really nice set of cymbals. It's so nice to know that there are still some honest people around.... Thank you Bill, and your wonderful wife.

WHEW! bom

And the nice thing is..........HIS NAME IS BILL..............Go Figure. It cost me a lot of $$$$$$ to set that up, Don. So, I hope you appreciate the effort so that the next time I come through SJ I can pickup at least one "Po Boy" and lunch? Rolling Eyes Wink

I had encountered the same experience back in 78' in a club up in a snowy town of Lake Taho. The difference in my story is that..................My Zildjians Constantinople cymbal set was history; a history well remembered and embedded as a lesson well learned Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad So my friend, count your blessings.

See there are still good people on the planet, I had a my Bible returned to me once, I placed it the roof of the church van, to something, and anyway I drove off, this was in Chichester Pennsylvania, it is like 20 miles I guess from where I was living right outside of Philly in Upper Darby PA. Anyway she called me because my number was in there, and she said I am bringing this to you, and she did. It is the Bible that I am still using and that was like 1999. And she found it on the road. cheers Very Happy There are still good people around, I am happy for you Don.

This isn't the first time you've done this either is it Don? If i recall you left cymbals outside a club in the past. I left abunch of stuff on the sidewalk once including my cymbals. I got a call and came and picked it all up. I had people offer to help carry my stuff and it ended up confusing the process. I always carry my own stuff now for that reason.

A "Po Boy" and lunch it is, "Bill" Wink

Rac, I'm counting for sure!

Yes, Spanky, it's very nice to know that there are still a number of people somewhere on this planet with integrity.

Kenny,

You have a good memory. I left a set of cymbals outside a club a number of years ago. When I realized it I called and they were holding them for me. I really need to be more careful, I'm not gonna keep getting these things back.

Great Story Don, and nice setting him up Boomer ! LOL

It just goes to show, that " you reap what you sow" . That was no accident that those cymbals came back to you . So you must be doing things right in your life Don !

I hope you offered the guy gas money at least ?? Or free passes to your next gig !

Peace, TED

You're lucky, Don.
There are still alot of good people on this earth.
The bad ones are more of an exception to the rule.
Glad it worked out well for you. cheers

Ted, we never physically crossed paths, only by phone, but I did tell him that should he ever need anything to let me know.

Thanks, Pete.... Incidentally, one of the cymbals that was in the bag was the HHX, hand hammered, dry ride you sold me. I was most happy to get that and the hi hats back!

Imagine that... who would? So very glad that you were able to recover what you thought was lost. There's a morale to that story. Good things happen to good people more than the bad things most want to talk about.

Good for you Nephew!

Wow! D just today before leaving for work I accidentally left my Omar Hakim sig snare and my new-to-be-installed Evans batter head on my back porch. It's a private area but with the sea winds blowing at 60 MPH, either the boxed batter head or the snare should've been blown away - possibly into my neighbor's side of the fence! I too thank God for not permitting that from happening. The only thing that survives winds like that are the plants; My wife had me bolt-screw the bottom of the planters to the deck last year I love you

See below for detail of what would've have been history in the making Embarassed

Another testimony!

This'll either prompt me toward more attentiveness to my Stuff, or provide an opportunity to Praise the One who Keeps and Provides. Both are cool Racman. It IS remarkable that everthing was recoverable.

cheers
