Lenny White's quote on 21 century Radio

Here's a quote I feel well put in the words of Lenny White. It speaks of present day radio and it's negative effects on music as an art form:

It's a highly political landscape. Radio used to be a place to hear new and exciting things and a place to discover new artists and musical styles, but now giant conglomerates play music designed for specific purposes own radio. It has become like a new showroom for new manufactured products. The attitude is not just prevalent in radio. We are dealing with philosophical mindsets that run rampant and deep. The condition of art is in a vulnerable and sad state. So much so, that those things that are associated with art have a hard time finding a viable place. It's because art doesn't have the same reverence it use to. People don't have respect for life so how could they respect art? Humans make art. If you don't have a respect for humans how can you respect what a human does?

Have you heard his new CD yet, Rac? I think it's called "Anomoly." He promised it would take us back to the '70's Jazz/Rock Fusion days...

Not as of yet Fuzit. Glad you reminded me cause I need to order it soon. Yeah, Lenny's playing is incredible. I like listening to him especially before doing a gig - he inspires me as does Boomer.

The recording that really got me into his playing was 'Presentense.' You more likely have that one if not, check it out when can. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

It's hard to pick my Favorite Lenny album, but if I had to, I would most likely pick "Astral Pirates." Very Imaginative!!

Aw, man yeah, F!! Astral Pirates is off the fissizal! Lenny is such a talented writer and producer, right along side his incredible playing! Big city, Venusian summer, Streamlined...... Aww, Backup, boiieeee!!

I hope his shoulder is doing better.

I also am a long time fan as well. I have those CDs you mentioned and it is a blast from fusion's past I'll never forget!

And yeah D...you know what Lenny is all about man. He is just an incredible artist. Really D, I wish you would get a chance to view the latest RTF. Lenny is outstanding. However, there was a moment, can't remember what tune it was, that he was in a solo and had to raise his right arm as if waveing to someone. But I don't think that was the case. Again, it's probable being to a shoulder related issue. But that did not hinder Lenny in anyway, in my istimate, of developing into a beautiful and intense solo!

I watch that video at least every other night religiously. After my quite time with the Word of course

I don't care where drumming is heading these days. It's Boomer and always will be Lenny for me!

Love the Cd's and albums and DVD's but there's nothing like seeing him in person, and then getting to talk with him afterward.

Well, I gotta say unfortunately I had to leave on the fly, right before they got on stage. But I do have their last RTF live concert DVD which I'm very greatful for. ...I really am.
