Wow, how amazing would it have been for the whole band to have been there?.... Or even just Rick!

Would you know if Boomer is using an In-Ear monitoring system? It may look like it.

I believe most band have moved to an in-ear monitoring system as you see less and less floor monitors now at concerts. the last 4 bands I've seen live all used it. that would be Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, Peter Frampton and YES.

In fact Rac at the beginning of the video Boomer is adjusting something on his left waist or pant leg which was probably that monitor control.

and I'm glad you were able to check out those videos !

That was nice to see and hear.

Ted, thanks for the response. Just one more question; would an in-ear monitoring system aid in preventing ear damage? I'm thinking that's a major reason why they may use it, besides having better clarity in sound over all.

Oh forgot to mentioned.....John dos'nt have the edge he use to have. Just my opinion of course. But he's still a great musician by all means of the word.

Thank you Ted....this is so good to hear and see how music and chance can find ways to get people to get in touch and find a way to communicate with each other again, where usual words may have been not a way to find common ground again. Blessings to music as force of reconciliation and respect to the people making it possible in the one or other way!
Thanks Billy.

He still has it Rac, if you look at some of his other videos, he has not lost a step, like him and the Dennis Chambers video here is a video of them at that same festival

HI Niki ! How are you ?

Rac, John has not lost anything. First of all, that's a strat he's using and not his guitar , which is a Godin. And he was not even supposed to be there, but rather on a short vacation.

Try listening to the new 4th Dimension album To the One, if you think he's lost something. His tone has changed though, maybe that's what you mean. But for him, it;s always about change.

Spanky, I'm not sure if you meant that these clips are from the same festival date of John and Billy.
Because they're not. The ones you put up are from 1998. The ones Ted posted are from this year,
12 years later.

No not at the same festival, I should have mentioned that. I was talking about the name. Yeah that was 1998, and Ted, I was like what is John doing with a Strat, a red one at that, it looked out of place for him. But boy was I glad to see John and Billy together.

spanky, the opening act did not show up so Claude Nobs asked Boomer and John if they would fill in at the last moment. Boomer was there to see Chester Thompson as he said and I don't know why John was there because he was supposedly on vacation. But he lives in Monaco which is close, so I guess he went to see the Festival.

They did not have much time to prepare anything so they just went up there and did their thing. John obviously borrowed that Strat and Boomer managed to acquire a small Yamaha kit, but certainly smaller than what he usually uses as we all know.

All things considered, I thoroughly enjoyed the performance !

Check out "To The One" - even if you don't care for the material or the sidemen, it is clear that there is no way John is finished. And re. the Montreux set, that seemed like just an unfortunate throwaway by both of them.

It's amazing how two people can look or listen to the same thing and come away with two distinctly different opinions:

I don't undestand how anyone could listen to To The One and not care for the sidemen. Gary , Mark and Etienne are superior musicians. they have to be in order to play with John.

AS to the Montreux performance being an "unfortunate throwaway by both of them", you're either unaware of the significance of that event, or you're just trying to provoke some controversy. Since you've only made 3 posts to this forum since it was started, we don't know much about you, your abilities, or lack thereof, which makes it hard to respect your opinion, or not.

I'm glad you posted because we encourage participation here. However, I disagree with everything you said , though you have a right to your opinion.

You have a penchant for criticizing that which you don't understand or, alternatively, misinterpret. Try getting over yourself.

That's my darling Cairn Terrier Mickey - 11 years old (incredible - he's like a puppy) - Katie Couric has his sister by pure coincidence. Everyone loves their pets (hopefully), but I must say that this guy is one rare "bird". Thanks for your thoughts.
