A very clear Mahavishnu 1972 video

This is about the clearest one that I have run across. And talk about precise drumming and power Wow.

Fusion had so much more freedom back then.
It was definately played with more reckless
abandon for sure. Raw and pure.

It was a time of rebellion and statement making
and this music back then absolutely reflected that.
Pioneering and free spirited. I think RTF captured
the same kind of vibe in that they hit at the right
time. A time when the planets were perfectly aligned
and this music meshed with that. Maybe that's part
of the reason these reunion bands don't quite have
the same impact.

That music was then and was meant for then.
It had it's say, it opened the door, it did it's job.
Some things just aren't meant to be repeated.
People have changed, times have changed the
players have changed thus the music has changed.
It'll never be like it was... Never again...
When has it ever?

Don your reply hit the nail right on the head. And look how free Billy was with his playing and the rest of the band. Boy I miss those days. And you are right these reunion bands don't have all that anymore. I miss all that freedom I even miss being a hippie.
