Hi,
Here are two tracks (Voice of reason and Red Air) from Virgil Donati’s solo album “In this life” performed live in the studio plus a short document about the recording of the album. Virgil Donati is truly one of a kind. Great co-musicians on this project too.

There is a lot to digest in this album for the listener. It’s complex, but rewarding after some listening.

Thanks, Anders, yes, these clips have been out
for awhile now. I have this CD and his first one
as well On the Virg - Serious young insects.

I actually like the first CD better as this latest
is quite complex and has very few places where
it just grooves and allows you to come up for air
for any reasonable amount of time. But what
was done on this project was done to near
perfection... I can certainly appreciate that.

And you're right, Virgil is one of a kind... Off
the charts really.

It's great to see things
taken places where we
have not been.

cheers

PS: I am glad he did NOT
do the Dream Theater gig.
It's not for him. He is some
other kind of art.

Don, I also prefer the previous album (OTV, Serious young insects) from 1999 to this one from last year for the same reasons you mentioned. Nevertheless no music to have in your car while driving Very Happy

I’m searching for Virgil Donati’s “Strech” (from 1995) and “Just Add Water” (from 1997) with Scott Henderson on guitar and Ric Fierabracci on bass. These cd’s are difficult to get at a reasonable price. They are probably out of print now. Do you have these releases too?

Kind regards,
Anders

Hi Anders,

I have "Stretch" which consists of drum patterns
and solos played by Virgil over diverse melodic and
rhythmic ostinato patterns. some really cool stuff
happening here and it makes for some interesting
study and even sample pieces.

"Just add water" I don't have and didn't even know
about. Thanks for the enlightenment.
